Hot melt drills can be adapted to manual bench drills, ordinary drilling machines, milling machines, and CNC machining centers, as long as the equipment has appropriate speed and power. It is not recommended to use a handgun drill due to insufficient stability and axial pressure, but it can be intermittently operated on small aperture (below M6) thin-walled (below 1.5mm) workpieces.

Hot melt drills are suitable for ductile metal materials such as low-carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, titanium, and can also be used to process electroplated workpieces. Not applicable to zinc and tin materials. The zinc (ZN) content in brass should be less than 40%, and the silicon (Si) content in aluminum alloy should be less than 0.5%.

The surface smoothness of the extruded thread is high, the metal fibers are continuous and not broken, and a cold hard layer is formed on the surface. The tensile strength and shear strength are both high. Thread strength and lifespan are better than cutting threads, which is more conducive to thread assembly.

After the hot melt drill is extruded into a liner on the workpiece, an extrusion tap is used to tap the liner, achieving integrated processing from drilling to tapping. The extruded threaded metal fibers are continuous and have higher strength than traditional cutting threads.

Not the same. The diameter of the bottom hole of the extrusion tap is approximately equal to the nominal diameter of the thread minus 0.5 times the pitch. The diameter of the bottom hole of the cutting tap is approximately equal to the nominal diameter of the thread minus the pitch. Squeezing taps have stricter requirements for the size of the bottom hole. If the bottom hole is too small, it can cause the tap to break, and if it is too large, it can lead to insufficient thread strength.
